Durrant almost hits highest recorded average in victory over Layton

Glen Durrant almost threw the highest recorded average ever during the Isle of Man Classic. The Lakeside champion threw an average of 133.60 points per turn in his match against Mark Layton.

'Duzza' struck Layton in the last sixteen. The Welshman won a round earlier with 4-0 against Paul Hogan, but against Durrant he could not do the same. The Englishman won four legs in only 45 arrows. The 47-year-old darter from Middlesbrough opened with three 11-darters, then he finished the game with a 12-darter. Durrant later also managed to reach the final. The final against Mark McGeeney is scheduled for Sunday. The highest recorded average ever remains in the name of Kyle Anderson. The Australian threw an average of 134.84 during his match against Terry Jenkins at a Players Championship in 2015. However, this game went over seven legs, as the game was won 6-1 by Anderson.
