Lennon moves into tentative World Matchplay spot

The race for the remaining World Matchplay spots is hotting up and with a projected cut off on the ProTour Order of Merit being just below £35,000. Only positions 6 and above are currently safe.

This means in turn that certain players down towards the final positions as well as outside still have a chance of improving their chances of making the World Matchplay.
Steve Lennon is the latest player that could be involved in Blackpool. The young Irishman reached his first final on Sunday which has helped his cause in reaching the Winter Gardens and further on, the World Grand Prix.
This is at the expense of Jelle Klaasen who will have an uphill battle to reach the Matchplay. He has just lost his seeding for the European Tours which means he is either going to have to have some great runs on the Pro Tour or qualify a lot through the European qualifiers.
Some in form names including the likes of Danny Noppert, Krzysztof Ratajski could still force their way in to the tournament. Also the return of Corey Cadby if he does compete over the weekend could mean some more big name players miss out.
