Mansell through with whitewash win, Richardson produces two strong finishes to overcome Temple

Mickey Mansell advanced into the second round of the International Darts Open after a whitewash win against Dirk van Duijvenbode.

The Irishman outscored the Dutchman, who only hit a 78 average. Mansell produced a 97 average as well as four maximum scores. Martin Schindler was responsible for the exit of another Dutch player. 'The Wall' beat Ron Meulenkamp 6-3 to increase his chances to reach the European Championship.
James Richardson reached the second round after hitting two clinical finishes against Terry Temple. 'Ruthless' extended his lead to 3-1 with a fantastic 160 finish, while Temple was sitting on tops. In the nineth leg, Richardson concluded the match with a 141 checkout.
Steve Lennon started the event with a 6-1 win over Patrik Kovacs, who made his debut on the PDC European Tour. The Irishman threw a 94 average and 46 checkout percentage.
