Michael van Gerwen sent out a message tonight to the chasing pack at the Grand Slam and that was that it will take a lot to beat the World Number One in Wolverhampton this week.
He defeated the Irish youngster Steve Lennon 10-3 with the Carlow native averaging 94 himself despite only getting the solitary 3 legs. But Van Gerwen was unstoppable with a near 105 average to add to his 105.75 tournament average as well as eight 180's.
Mighty Mike is searching for another Grand Slam crown and who would bet against him with that performance. He will have to get through the likes of Phil Taylor and potentially Gary Anderson though to win but performances like tonight do him a lot of favours ahead of those potential clashes.
