Van Gerwen focused on World Matchplay after World Series disappointment: “Bit of time now to make sure I am at my best for the Matchplay”

Michael van Gerwen has not had a brilliant past few weeks since returning to darts after a few weeks off. He has lost early doors in the last two World Series events but has set his sights on getting himself ready for the World Matchplay this weekend.
Van Gerwen said the following on Twitter: “Obviously disappointed not to win the World Series tournaments but great to visit great places and credit to the winners and everyone involved”.
He also added ahead of Blackpool: “Bit of time now to make sure I am at my best for the Matchplay”.
’Mighty Mike’ will be hoping to potentially get back on track and show why he’s the world’s best at the Winter Gardens, the sight of some of his best triumphs.

- As prize money increases each year and there are now more tournaments then logically breaking the £2 million barrier is going to happen, only thing preventing it is the now deeper strength in depth of the darting field. If you took Taylor’s best two consecutive years and substituted the prize money from now onto the tournaments he won he would have passed the £2 million.Mysstree26-11-2024
