Michael van Gerwen has given his thoughts on his year and his career so far in a new interview on his YouTube channel.
Van Gerwen admitted that for him his main aim is to provide for his family and that despite already having a great career, there is more in the tank. He also said that despite some ups and downs this year, he can’t complain due to his tournament wins. ''I have some little ups and downs so far in the Premier League, when you look to the results. I have won the Masters, World Championship, a Euro Tour and two Pro Tours, so I can't really complain.'' ''I'm number one in the world for more then five years now. It's a lovely position to be in, but I work really hard for it. It's tough to keep doing what I have done the last few years and it costs a lot of energy. I have one big target and that's making sure my family is alright.'' ''They always say 'they are going to catch me or winning so many tournaments this season'. But don't say it, do it and say afterwards 'I did it'. I'm totally the opposite of that. I say things when I have done it. That's the difference. You have to believe in yourself. If you don't believe in yourself, that counts for any other player, then it's going to be tough. I'm having a phenomenal career so far, but I know there is more in the tank.''
