This year marks 25 years of the PDC World Championship since the split occured which formed the WDC and then the PDC following that and since then the corporation has gone from strength to strength as this year they have reached this milestone with Michael van Gerwen out to add a 3rd World crown and Phil Taylor embarking on his final World Championship.
MVG had one of the battles of the ages a few years back which has been put on Twitter by the PDC today ahead of the tournament. It was against Raymond van Barneveld in one of the best matches seen at the World Championship and darts for that matter when Barney did the impossible as he overcame 'Mighty Mike' after a deciding set.
