The first World Series event takes place this weekend with the German Darts Masters at the home of Schalke, the Veltins arena. Among the players in action is the defending champion Peter Wright.

Wright has spoke ahead of his title defence and admits he will be ready for it. He will face the same player who took him all the way last year, Dragutin Horvat. He edged a 6-5 thriller then went on to claim the German Darts Masters crown. There is also the added part to this year’s tournament of playing in front of a record breaking crowd of 20,000 and for Wright he cannot wait. “I'll be ready for this one and it should be fantastic,” said Wright, who will feature in all six World Series events this year. “It was the first World Series title I won - but I could have gone out in the first round. “Dragutin had darts to beat me but I got through it and went all the way, which I will be hoping to do again. “I can't wait to get back to Germany, I’m really excited for it,” Wright continued. “It was a great tournament to win and it would be massive this year because of the huge crowd. “The crowds are always behind me anyway but to think there will be 20,000 this week is phenomenal.”
