John Part will be seen this Christmas at the PDC World Darts Championship as a pundit but will return to the site of one of his finest triumphs in early 2022 when he takes part in the World Seniors Darts Championship.
Part spoke during the Grand Slam of Darts and is looking forward to returning to the iconic Circus Tavern.
"That would have to be called the biggest win and I would have to say, it's going to be strange going back there after all this time but I like that club setting, the bear pit I like to think of it. You're right in the mix, you hear everything. It's good emotionally, you get charged a little differently," said Part to OnlineDarts.
A rivalry which could be renewed is against Phil Taylor which he is looking forward to.
"He hasn't tasted blood in a while. He does exhibitions and matches and things. I know he can play, he hasn't played me for quite a while and he never knew what to expect with me. I did have some successes in tournaments against him and he knows that I can turn up and wreck his day so that's fun for me. I think I have more idea to expect out of him than he does of me."
With the likes of Peter Wright, Gary Anderson and Simon Whitlock heading towards the World Seniors age, Part believes it could be the start of something.
"It's the birth of a tour perhaps, I guess a lot of things depend as if the years go on with this. I guess a lot of things depend on as if the years go on with this, I mean it's only speculation but I guess how they structure a ranking system year to year or does it just remain invitational with common sense."
Rankings
But how would he change the current PDC system? Part revealed that aa two-tier system may work in the current darting landscape.
"Well maybe a two-tier system of ranking. Like where you could have a top 16 ranking system which would encompass everything because all of the guys that could be in there are participating in most of those events. So at least there's some balance to it."
"You can't get where the lower players are just getting behind on money all the time against guys in the overall because they just don't have the opportunity."
