No doubt it has not escaped your notice, last Friday the European Football Championship started in Germany. That tournament is also generating interest among several darters.
Among English darters in particular, football fans are particularly numerous. Last Sunday, Joe Cullen, Chris Dobey and Ryan Meikle even traveled to Gelsenkirchen to watch on as England opened their tournament with a 1-0 win over Serbia, thanks to a first half header from their talisman Jude Bellingham.
But what if Gareth Southgate could only pick dart players in his side? Behind the Oche' took this question to heart and looked to create English national team with only darters. In goal, the choice with Nathan Aspinall was obvious, after all, 'The Asp' was a talented goalkeeper at Manchester United in his younger years. If front of him, two solid as a rock centre halfs in Michael Smith and Stephen Bunting, with Ross Smith and James Wade replacing Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier at full back.
The midfield three sees Dave Chisnall and Rob Cross sitting deeper, allowing playmaker Luke Littler the freedom to create some magic. Joe Cullen and Chris Dobey swap the crowd for the wings, with their job surely to supply the star striker leading the line, Luke Humphries.
