Barely a month after he suffered a double collarbone fracture in a fight after the Union-Antwerp football match, Kim Huybrechts was back in action last week at Players Championships 11 and 12.

Huybrechts won one match at both Players Championship tournaments, but then lost heavily. "Still, there's not a disappointed person sitting here in front of you," Huybrechts told the podcast 'Double Top'. "After all, when I had just had surgery, the surgeon said that I would not be able to play again within the month. Still, I won two matches with a high average, the matches after that there was much more in it but my level is still too much with peaks and valleys."

"That also makes sense," continued 'The Hurricane'. "Because of my injury I have been able to practice a lot less lately and the match rhythm is a bit lacking. It especially hurts that I was unable to qualify for the European Tour in Antwerp the day after both Players Championships, I really regret that. Although I have also learned to put things like that into perspective quickly."

Huybrechts therefore knows what he needs to work on. "Especially on the doubles, I had a lot of problems. And that wasn't because of the pain in my shoulder, it was because of the lack of training. I will definitely work on that in the coming weeks."

The 38-year-old Belgian may miss the Euro Tour in Antwerp, but he still has plenty of other goals remaining this year. "I am especially happy that I made it to the World Cup of Darts, in the end it was still very exciting between Mike De Decker and myself. In the past we always did well there and provided we get a final place or win I am also qualified for the Grand Slam of Darts, that would be great."

"For the World Darts Championship, I am currently not yet qualified," Huybrechts continued. "The problem often also situates itself in my head. I sometimes think too much during matches and that's why my level is often very variable. I've been working on that behind the scenes for a while to reverse that negative spiral, but something like that takes time. For me it sometimes takes too long, but people who guide me say precisely that I have to be patient and that everything will work out."
