Ashton holds off De Graaf to take title at Australian Darts Open

Lisa Ashton has won the women's tournament of the Australian Darts Open. 'The Lancashire Rose' was too strong for Aileen de Graaf in the final.

The field of participants at the Australian Darts Open consisted of the best local players, supplemented by the top players of the WDF. In the ladies competition the main prize of 5,000 Australian Dollars, equivalent to almost 3,000 euros.

Ashton and De Graaf had made it through the pool phase effortlessly earlier this week in Australia's Moama. The tournament was then completed on Saturday.

In the semifinals, the two top players also won their matches easily. De Graaf triumphed 6-1 against Jo Hadley, while Ashton outlasted her opponent Desi Mercer 6-0. The final was an 8-4 victory for Ashton.
