The opening matches on the fourth day of action at the MODUS Icons of Darts League are complete with Jason Askew and Jarred Cole edging through last leg decider wins over Paul Nicholson and Robert Collins.
Askew edged past Nicholson but it could have been so much more comfortable for the Group One winner. He hit a 170 checkout to go 2-1 up and from there successfully went one away from the finishing line at 4-2 but fluffed his line missing seven match darts allowing Nicholson to break and send it all the way.
'The Asset' having the throw though didn't prove fruitful with Askew getting over the line to get the early points.
Cole and Collins was a match which was marred by missed doubles but it was the former that ended up winning through. It was 5/22 for Cole and 4/17 for Collins which shows this with both players averages suffering being around the 80 mark.
The Icons of Darts League is a competition that runs on 24 different days from Monday April 6 through to Saturday May 2. Each playing week consists of six players. There are five players on each matchday with one player taking a rest.
Each day consists of four matches for each player with the player with the most wins claiming the group win for that day.
