Raymond van Barneveld had a UK Open to forget.

Unlike some competitors and all of the fans, Barney made it to Minehead. But he was very quickly sent packing on Friday night. The five-time world champion was by Mervyn King in the third round. Van Barneveld averaged just 86 in a performance far below his normal standard. The Dutch master used his vlog 'Through the Eye of the Tiger' to explain what happened. "Last Friday was a disaster against Mervyn King on stage at the UK Open," Barney said. "I saw the video back of myself on stage, it was really terrible." A number of viewers noted that van Barneveld appeared ill on the Minehead stage. The Dutchman frequently returned to the table to drink water, and seemed to struggle to concentrate. He explained that his diabetes was at the root of his struggles. "We're in the gym now, back in Holland, every day in the gym. We keep on fighting, training and practising, until we get good results again. For now, hard work at the gym every day," he said. Next up for Barney is a Premier League meeting with Gerwyn Price in Leeds. The Dutchman has won just one of his four games so far.
