The fans in Antwerp at the Flanders Darts Trophy got to see a lot of spectacle last weekend. There was also a record number of 180-scores thrown at the Euro Tour tournament in the Belgian port city.
It is already the second time this season that the 180 record has been broken on the Euro Tour. Earlier this year, 245 maximum scores were thrown at the Austrian Darts Open in Graz.
That record held for more than four months. At the Flanders Darts Trophy it was hit 247 times. An improvement of 22 180-scores.
Tournament winner Dave Chisnall was responsible for the most 180 scores. In five matches, 'Chizzy' accounted for twenty maximum scores. Dirk van Duijvenbode recorded 19, and Chris Dobey threw the highest possible score 18 times.
Ricardo Pietreczko (14), Peter Wright (13), Luke Humphries (12), Luke Woodhouse (12), Scott Williams (12) and Gabriel Clemens (12) were the other players with at least 10 180 scores.
Chisnall managed to win a Euro Tour tournament in Antwerp for the eighth time in his career. The Englishman won consecutively over James Wade (6-2), Gabriel Clemens (6-2), Peter Wright (6-5), Chris Dobey (7-5) and Ricardo Pietreczko (8-6). Earlier this year, Chisnall was also the best at the European Darts Open in Leverkusen.
