Bunting and Gilding eliminate German players at German Darts Open

Stephen Bunting and Andrew Gilding have qualified for the quarter-finals at the German Darts Open. In both cases it was at the expense of a German player, leaving no German player in action Sunday night during the final session of the Euro Tour tournament in Jena.

Gilding was responsible for the elimination of Florian Hempel. Hempel won the first leg with a 12-darter, but the next four legs all went to Gilding. Hempel then closed the gap to 3-4, but Gilding held a break via double 6. 'Goldfinger' then finished the job with a 13-darter.

Bunting will be Gilding's opponent in the last eight. The difference was mainly in the doubles; Schindler scored 1/11 against 6/13 for Bunting. For example, Schindler missed five darts to make it 2-3 in the fifth leg. Bunting did hit the double to make it 4-1. He then closed it out with two 13-darters.
