Dave Chisnall and
Michael van Gerwen's thrilling last-leg decider in the semi-final of the
Dutch Darts Championship on Sunday was another historic milestone in the history of the
European Tour.
As it turned out the match was the 5000th played on the European Tour and there can't have been many more nail-biting finishes throughout the years as both players missed a combined ten darts for the match in the deciding leg before Chizzy finally booked his spot in the final.
Overcoming the boos and whistles from a partisan, pro-Michael van Gerwen crowd in Leeuwarden, Chisnall prevailed for the first time in twelve attempts against 'Mighty Mike' on the Euro Tour.
With the momentum clearly with him after coming through such a thrilling tie, Chisnall then continued his roll and overcame Luke Humphries in the final to pick up his second European Tour crown of the year and rise to the top of the rankings on the Euro Tour Order of Merit.
