Gabriel Clemens is through to the second round at the
World Grand Prix after a shock win over
Nathan Aspinall in one of many on Wednesday night in Coventry.
Aspinall was easily beaten by the German Giant who himself hasn't been in the best form coming into proceedings this week.
'The Asp's only flourish came when he missed 54 to take it to a deciding set but he missed the single 14 which allowed Clemens to win through in a match he'd otherwise dominated throughout.
"I feel really good to win against one of the best players in the world and a future champion," said Clemens.
"It's a totally different format playing in double-start. I started well but my finishing wasn't as good, but I won the game and it's massive for me."
