Heta survived a deciding leg against Rowby-John Rodriguez (6-5) in the first round, but then recorded resounding victories over Keegan Brown (6-2), Niels Zonneveld (6-0), Callum Goffin (6-1) and Danny Noppert (6-1) for a spot in the semifinals.
In the last four Heta had to work hard again, because Cameron Menzies made it very difficult for him. The Scot had an average of 106.66, but had to watch dejectedly as Heta hit a 12-darter and an 11-darter to take a 7-6 victory.
Searle also defeated Steve Beaton (7-4) after victories over Berry van Peer (6-2), Kai Gotthardt (6-1), Andrew Gilding (6-3), Danny Lauby (6-2) and Ross Smith (6-5). Beaton was responsible for the elimination of Michael van Gerwen one round earlier.
A total of 125,000 pounds in prize money is distributed at each Players Championship tournament. The winner of the event will receive a check for 15,000 pounds.
