Danny Jansen has won the first tournament of the PDC
Development Tour 2024. The Dutchman was too strong for compatriot
Owen Roelofs after an exciting final 5-4.
With that, 'The Mullet' continues his good start to the season, after previously failing to retain his PDC Tour Card. In fact, Jansen also won a tournament on the PDC Challenge Tour, more or less securing his participation in a large number of Pro Tour tournaments after all.
During Development Tour 1, Jansen was able to record victories over Travis Baur (4-1), Kieran Thompson (4-1), Patrik Williams (4-2), Cam Crabtree (4-3), Dylan Dowling (4-1), Paul Krohne (5-2) and Daniel Perry (5-3) to qualify for the final. In the final match, the win seemed to go to Roelofs, but Roelofs missed as many as six match darts in the eighth leg. Then it was Jansen who won 5-4.
The Development Tour is the youth circuit of the PDC. This tour is open to players ages 16 through 23. Players who turn 24 during the season may continue to compete.
At each Development Tour tournament, there is a prize pool of 15,000 pounds to be divided. With the prize money, a ranking is established. At the end of the season, the numbers one and two receive an invitation to the World Darts Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2025 and 2026. The ranking winner also gets to compete in the Grand Slam of Darts.
