Daryl Gurney sends Gerwyn Price packing as Peter Wright eases into quarter-finals at World Series of Darts Finals 2024

Peter Wright easily qualified for the last eight at the World Series of Darts Finals. The two-time world champion won 6-2 over Jeff Smith in Amsterdam in the second round. For Gerwyn Price however, the Welshman's race is already run.
Smith took with the first leg after a 108 finish. Wright then picked up three legs in a row with a 101 finish and two 15-darters. Smith then won his second leg by reducing the deficit to 3-2 with a 52 finish. Wright then started the sixth leg with a 40-score, but thanks to a 180, the leg still went to the Scot with a 16-darter. In the seventh leg, Wright gained a double break lead by throwing a 15-darter. Snakebite' needed only one more leg and started the eighth. With a 13-darter he then brought down the Canadian.
Daryl Gurney caused a surprise by eliminating Gerwyn Price. Gurney, who was already responsible for the elimination of Dirk van Duijvenbode in the first round, triumphed 6-3 against the former world champion.
In the first leg, a lot of doubles were missed, but Gurney was the lucky one in the end. Price himself left two break chances unused, while 'Superchin' needed eight chances to win the leg. A 17-darter in the second leg then doubled the lead. Price missed one chance on the bullseye in the third leg, after which Gurney made it 3-0 with a 16-darter. In the fourth leg, Price got on the scoreboard with a 14-darter.
Gurney then threw a rock-solid leg of his own and made it 4-1 via a 12-darter. Price kept himself in the match by reducing the deficit to 4-2 with a 14-darter. Gurney was not out in five innings in the seventh leg, but Price could not take advantage. Gurney hit the double 8 to make it 5-2. Price was then able to grab one more leg before his Northern Irish opponent set the final score at 6-3.
