The former World Championship participant started the tournament with easy wins over Mark Dudbridge (6-2) and Stephen Burton (6-1). Mark Webster managed to win four legs, before losing 6-4 in the third round. Jesus Noguera (6-2) and Kim Huybrechts (6-3) were also beaten by De Sousa en route to the semi-finals.
De Sousa then met Mensur Suljovic, who was defeated convincingly with 7-3. Meanwhile Glen Durrant battled past the likes of Cristo Reyes, Ian White en Gerwyn Price to move into the final.
The Portuguese made a strong start as took a 4-1 lead, before Durrant managed to level the match in the eighth. 'Duzza' also came back to 6-6 after being 6-4 down. De Sousa regained the lead in the 13th leg with a 52 checkout, before he hit a 16-darter to claim his second title of the season.
