Dobey hands Van Gerwen his first ever Premier League Darts whitewash

Michael van Gerwen went down 6-0 comfortably against Chris Dobey on Thursday night during the seventh week of play of Premier League Darts in Nottingham.

A whitewash does not happen often in the prestigious darts competition. In the 19-year history of Premier League Darts, it was only the fourteenth time.

Four times, incidentally, Van Gerwen handed out a whitewash himself. In 2014 (7-0 against Phil Taylor), 2015 (7-0 against James Wade), 2017 (7-0 against Adrian Lewis) and 2022 (7-0 against Peter Wright), the Dutchman managed to win a match without losing a leg.
