Dobey reveals freak injury halted momentum at Grand Slam: "I got the point of a dart all the way through my throwing hand"

Chris Dobey finally got a win on the board after his late call-up to the line-up for the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts.

Dobey saw off his good friend and as he said post match a player he plays a lot in Ryan Joyce but he discussed where it has went wrong in this tournament putting it down to a freak injury.

"I'm used to playing Ryan on a day to day basis, it is nice to get the win up there especially against him but coming here got the late call, that never affected us at all," said Dobey post match.

"Like an hour or so before my match with Rowby the other night, I got the point of a dart all the way through my throwing hand and hit a nerve. It kind of distressed us and my hand was shaking for two or three days. But I'm just delighted to at least go out there and get a win under my belt."

"It was an accident and obviously I need to get it checked."

For 'Hollywood' though, he admitted he felt hard done by in the first place not getting in due to the criteria not favouring his two ProTour triumphs.

"I felt a little bit hard done by winning two ProTours and still not getting in but it was nice to get the call."
