Glen Durrant is looking up after his darting struggles of the past 12 months since winning the Premier League Darts as he went from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.

This saw Durrant winless in the Premier League and dropping out of TV events due to not being able to perform on the ProTour with many calling into question the future of the multiple Lakeside World champion.

The road now begins though ahead of Ally Pally with exhibitions starting his path to the Palace and for 'Duzza', he can't gauge how his form is but he discussed the appeal of exhibitions.

"I couldn't really gauge where I want to be because exhibitions are about putting a show on and when you're with people like Nathan Aspinall and Gary Anderson who's like a god there - the exhibitions are what they are and it was all about putting a show on for the crowd," said Durrant to BBC Radio Tees Sport.

"I used to have some really good trickshots as well. You would look at yourself at putting a good show on. They are great money, I remember when I won my first Lakeside, I did 72 exhibitions the next year, took the trophy from Lands End to John O'Groats.

"But a few months ago when I was at my lowest, I didn't turn up to a couple of exhibitions. I didn't want to see people who followed me the past couple of years with my struggles."

Looking up

But after spending the year having his throw in particular analysed by pundits and himself, he is starting to see himself emerging from his darting woes.

"I am seeing real positives. I am not where I want to be of course but I think the worst is over. We're moving onwards and upwards now."

"Maybe I was just over analysing and over thinking things. I watched every YouTube video you could possibly watch. Sometimes you're overthinking, you just have to throw the dart. Your body changes as you get older, you don't throw the same."

"I'm out of the limelight a bit because I'm not in any TV tournaments until Ally Pally and just a case of knuckling down. I've been doing a lot of work to this house and tomorrow my darts room is going to be ready so as far as I'm concerned, I'm going to be locking myself away for a couple of weeks."
