Durrant has continued his brilliance since the restart with an unbeaten run so far and beginning the second phase, it could yet be a golden first year for the three time Lakeside champion.
Both players began the tie though missing darts at doubles with eight between them but it was Durrant who took it in the madhouse. They both held their throws but Durrant took an early break with a 171 set up to leave double 20 and he was soon 3-1 up.
He punished more missed doubles from Price to hold at 4-1 up but Price came back into the tie with two legs in a row including a break with a 116 checkout the catalyst.
Both players exchanged breaks of throw before Durrant restored a three leg advantage at 6-3. Price produced a flash of brilliance with a 140 checkout but Durrant assured himself of a point going 7-4 up letting out a roar of emotion before finishing the job off.
