Glen Durrant had a poor week during the
Grand Slam of Darts which was his return to the big stage after his Premier League win and a period with COVID-19 after testing positive.
Durrant finished bottom of his group and is now eliminated from the competition and speaking afterwards, he admitted that it is the toughest period of his career so far but that he is determined to return to his best.
"You can probably see through the tears in my eyes. To be a Premier League champion three weeks ago and to play like I did last week (Winter Series) and this week, it's hurting," said Durrant to RTL7.
"I hope it's that, I think it's maybe there (mentally). I can play eleven legs of darts, I feel strong. I started playing darts in 1999 and I've never played bad, I've never lost five games on the spin like I have over the past 10 days."
"I'm determined to come back to the Players Championship next week and play really well. I've got six days at home now, celebrate my 50th birthday.
I'm trying to be as honest as I can, it's very hard. I'm not going to finish on that Premier League win, I always feel like there's one last chapter. I always believe that's at the Ally Pally, I'd love to become a real World Champion."
