Ricky Evans is through to the second round of the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship after taking care of Indian Qualifier, Nitin Kumar comprehensively.
Evans has not had the best 18 months but was pleased post match to do it where it matters most at the Alexandra Palace.
"Always seem to win here first game, it's just the next one that's the problem but happy with the way I played. My doubles went in, anyone that knows me on the tour I miss my doubles so many times it costs me matches and today I could hit any double," said Evans post match.
"I know I can beat anybody. I say this every single time, I just don't do it. I kind of knew I'd play well and I'm going to say the same tomorrow hopefully. If you're going to turn up in one event of the year, why not do it at this one."
Fan return
Someone who thrives off the support and energy of crowds, Evans was pleased to see them again and hopes they can stay all tournament with growing fears relating to Omicron.
"The YMCA was good. People waved to me. It was so nice to be back with fans, back with people. Shouting Ricky I love you and Kettering Town are rubbish and whatever, it makes darts. Hopefully we can have them all tournament."
