Agent gives update after Van Barneveld taken unwell at Super Series: 'Everything is fine and looks normal again'

Raymond van Barneveld was taken unwell during the early stages of the final day at the PDC Super Series II but didn't need to go to hospital and was being monitored in his hotel room in Milton Keynes.

His manager Ben De Kok gave an update on the condition of the five-time World Champion and also discussed how it happened.

"They put him on his side. He came and was picked up. But when he walked with security, he passed out again," he said to RTLnieuws.

Following that, medics were called. "They spent an hour with him. Everyone had to leave the room and nobody knew what was going on."

Van Barneveld seemingly had a sharp drop in blood glucose levels and De Kok admitted a myriad of factors could have led to him being unwell.

"The game for which he had to keep the score took a long time. He probably ate too little or had too little sugar. You don't want to admit that to yourself at such a moment."

Van Barneveld did not have to go to hospital, but was able to go to his hotel room, where he was monitored.

"Raymond is fine," says De Kok. "I just talked to him. He's in bed now. When he passed out, he was pale, but he has red cheeks now. Everything is fine and looks normal again.

Next week Van Barneveld will return to the Netherlands. His coach Iwe Kuitert will drive back with him. In the Netherlands he will go to the doctor for further examination with a period now with no darting action to come.
