Van Barneveld doesn't require hospital treatment after falling unwell at Super Series

The PDC has confirmed through a statement that Raymond van Barneveld became unwell on Friday during Players Championship 8.

The five-time World Champion lost 6-1 to Ryan Searle earlier in the afternoon and took a fall while marking a match between Jeffrey de Zwaan and Zoran Lerchbacher.

The match between De Zwaan and Lerchbacher was then completed and later the tournament was temporarily suspended.

The PDC have now announced that the tournament will resume at 2:45pm with the player in question now having left the arena and being attended to by the medics.

Following that, they released a statement that he didn't need to go to hospital and that after a while, Van Barneveld was taken back to his hotel room, where his health is further examined.

"Raymond van Barneveld received medical treatment after being taken ill at Friday's Players Championship 8

Van Barneveld was defeated in the first round of the PDC Super Series 2 event in Milton Keynes, and later required medical assistance after becoming unwell in the arena.

He was treated by paramedics but has not required hospital treatment, and returned to his hotel room at the Marshall Arena to be further monitored.

Play was suspended whilst Van Barneveld received treatment before resuming at 1445 GMT."
