Gary Anderson demolishes 180 record of Dave Chisnall and Dirk van Duijvenbode from history books

Gary Anderson narrowly missed out on the title at the third Players Championship tournament on Monday, but 'The Flying Scotsman' emerged as the day's big draw during the event.

Anderson defeated Jeffrey de Graaf (6-3), William Borland (6-2), Jim Williams (6-3), Jeffrey Sparidaans (6-0), Peter Wright (6-2) and Callan Rydz (7-4), before losing 8-7 to Searle in the final. The Scot managed to produce averages of 112.02, 100.47, 109.35, 90.18, 102.59, 111.71 and 108.61, respectively and still didn’t win the title.

But Anderson particularly impressed with his high number of 180 scores. No less than 41 times the two-time world champion managed to throw the highest possible score and that is an absolute record. The old record was held by Dave Chisnall and Dirk van Duijvenbode, who both managed to throw a 180-score 35 times during a Players Championship tournament.
