Gurney claims six consecutive legs to see off Evans and move into second round

Daryl Gurney is through to the second round of the World Matchplay after claiming six straight legs to see off Ricky Evans 10-5.

Gurney was 5-4 down to Evans but after it looked to be very much level, the former began to pull away and secured the win with five 180's, 45% on the doubles and a 92 average en route.

To begin the tie, Evans couldn't missed darts at double edging into a 3-2 lead and he continued to lead against Gurney 4-3 with 80% on the doubles from there. Despite that though, it was 5-5 at the break with nothing to split the duo.

From there though, Evans missed darts at double and this proved pivotal as Gurney went 6-5 up with a break of throw and after a hold, he was once again the receiver of a break of throw cementing the final blow at 8-5 up.

In the requisite leg, Evans hit a 180 but Gurney landed double 16 as per his dominance to go 9-5 up and one away. The tie was concluded with a 16 darter on 32 with Evans missing two darts to claim the leg himself.
