Despite that and the impending Christmas break, Humphries admitted that his Christmas will not be celebrated due to him being in the tournament still and practice will be on the agenda for him.
He also reserved praise for his opponent who it was revealed due to full time work has not played that often on the Development Tour and he hopes now he gives it his focus and attempts Q-School int he new year.
"Last year I only had to play two games to get to Christmas and this year I had to play three games, it makes Christmas better still being in the competition. Even though it is Christmas, the next three days will be just practice; we can celebrate when this tournament is over," said Humphries to LiveDarts during the press conference post game.
"He's so steady, his throw is lovely. I think it was very tough to see him miss a treble, every time he had three darts, he had a treble. The thing that surprised me is that he doesn't play Development Tour, get on it. If you do get on it, you can do the stuff I've done and it came as a major surprise that he has never played World Youth Championship as well because he would have been a huge player."
"I think he's got a lot to give this game, I hope he goes to Q-School because he could be a top player in the ProTour."
"A person with anxiety can struggle with taking the biggest finishes out because it's pressure but I don't feel the pressure anymore. Since I've learnt to control my anxiety, I think I'm becoming a better player."
