"I love it, you're coming to an event that has a start and a finish": Petersen a fan of Premier League Darts format amid criticism

The current Premier League Darts format has drawn criticism from some quarters, with many believing it to get repetitive after a while. Devon Petersen however believes the format works well.

"I love it," Petersen tells Mark Webster and Emma Paton on the Love the Darts podcast for Sky Sports. "I think it plays into the best player on the night."

Previously of course, each player used to only play once a night with draws being possible but thus updated format of quarter-final, semi-final, final makes a lot more sense to Petersen.

"When you play the old format, you get up for one game. This is like the best player on the night," he explains. "And you're coming to an event that has a start and a finish. As a fan your getting a lot for your money really."

Webster though isn't so sure. "It's getting a little bit of criticism isn't it," he says. "If you're watching from home you're seeing the same matches every week. There's pros and cons. It's hard to please everyone."
