Dimitri van den Bergh eased past Jeremy Fagg who leads the DPA Order of Merit 6-1 on an opening night clean sweep for the PDC representatives at the
Australian Darts Masters. But he has opened up on a crisis of confidence.
Van den Bergh looked shot on confidence as he spoke post match and admitted afterwards that he is doing his best to try to curb it. But that he isn't too proud with how he played or where his game is at right now.
"It was a struggle. I'm doing my 100% best but I'm not feeling confident on the stage. Everyone can know it, it doesn't really matter to me," said Van den Bergh to Online Darts.
"The best thing for me is that I know that I always give 100%. But I'm not proud of this performance but I'm also happy that hard battles can be won. That's probably what makes me one of the best players in the world even though you're struggling. Even though you're not 100% you don't mind or 100% in self belief, you can still push yourself for the W."
"Tomorrow (Saturday) I hope I'm going to be playing a whole lot easier. A whole lot more self control. But at the end of the day I'm sitting here, I managed to win and that's what I want to take with me."
"I don't know what it is. But I'm just busy with giving 100% and believing that the odds will turn around. Don't push yourself into something you're not, just give yourself time to progress and that's what I'm busy with. After going 1-0 down, I think I stepped up a little and that's a nice feeling."
