Luke Humphries has qualified for the quarterfinals of the World Grand Prix for the first time in his career. 'Cool Hand Luke' was too strong for Luke Woodhouse in the second round 3-0.
Despite the win, Humphries was not particularly satisfied. "I think that's probably one of the worst performances that I've put up on the TV stage for many years," he lamented to Tungsten Tales. "It's one of them games I'll probably never watch back."
Still, Humphries is already looking ahead. "Sometimes I get I'm too hard on myself but you know, I'm world number five you have to be. It's just one of those things," he says. "The top players seem to win when they're not at their best and for me to win 3-0 there really not on my best, have to take positives from that."
"I'm probably one of the toughest players in the world to beat," Humphries concludes, casting an eye towards a quarter-final tie with Peter Wright. "If I can come back tomorrow refreshed. Start again, forget about today, we can see a great performance."
