Ritchie Edhouse moved the darting goalposts with.a stupendous European Championship title win which saw him defeat Jermaine Wattimena 11-3 in the final. Now he can dare to dream.
Edhouse defeated Gary Anderson 10-5 in the Quarter-Finals and saw his chances increase with Luke Humphries' demise. He was the 250-1 outsider before a dart was thrown and in similar vein to Mike de Decker shattered the notion that only the big names can win these titles.
'Madhouse's name was sung by German fans and he became loved and adored by the Dortmund faithful. But even in his wildest dreams, he wouldn't have imagined how it would've gone this weekend.
"It'll take a day or two to sink in I think. Every day you'll be a major winner. I've not even won a ProTour let alone win a major so it's great but it's going to take two days at least," said Edhouse.
For a player too who has perennially sat inside the top 64 only just, it is now life changing money and not only a day to remember for himself but also his family with £120,000 collected and doors opened.
"I've done an interview earlier and it will change my life. And obviously getting the win, a lot more money. It is going to be massive for me and my family.
But he won't rest on his laurels now as he targets more major glory and doesn't want to be a flash in the pan.
"I've got the confidence, I've got the hunger. I could always say I could lose to him. I ain't got no fears no more. I've never been one to fear anyone but I've always struggled at the end of games. But now I know I can kill them off and obviously win."
"Nowadays with the rankings, it doesn't matter if you're one or 50. 128. Everyone there can win a tournament. Mike (de Decker) did set the benchmark to think we can all do it."
