Jonny Clayton made a good start to the Grand Slam of Darts. 'The Ferret' defeated Berry van Peer 5-2 in his first group match.
"Berry is one of my bogey players so to play him first..." Clayton reflects post-match, admitting to feeling a little nervy on stage. "But never mind. I got through it, played okay but played well at good times so yeah, happy with that."

The 49-year-old Welshman has been going through a difficult period following the death of his father. "I've not been in best of form and I just need to get my head back where it should be," he admits. "It's still raw to be honest, but yeah, it's my job. I have to try and do it as good as I can but yeah still a bit of problems there."
Due to his slight drop off in form, Clayton enters the Grand Slam of Darts, not one of the favourites. Nevertheless, 'The Ferret' can thrive as an underdog. "I just go up there and I try my best. If it's meant to be it's meant to be."
