"I've got no interest in having a sit down with him" - Dimitri Van den Bergh past talking to Kim Huybrechts but will act professionally on World Cup stage

Later tonight, the World Cup of Darts gets underway in Frankfurt. Belgium will play Singapore and the Philippines in the group stage. As in previous years, Dimitri Van den Bergh and Kim Huybrechts will form the Belgian team.

Van den Bergh is looking forward to the World Cup of Darts. "I'm a little tired, this particular lifestyle will always ask a lot of you, but yeah, I chose it. So even if I'm feeling tired, I've just got to try my best," said the 29-year-old Belgian in conversation with Tungsten Tales. "In my eyes, we've got two difficult teams to play against. I'm definitely not underestimating any of these Asian teams, they're really good and it's only going to be a short format, best of seven."

For Van den Bergh, it will already be his seventh participation in the World Cup of Darts. "It's always a remarkable feeling to be representing your country, it's just something special," he says proudly. "I think I've just got that extra soft spot for our three colours of the flag."

Belgium reached the semifinals at last year's World Cup of Darts

Everyone remembers last year's opening match, when the Belgians won easily over Finland, but did not give each other a glance on stage. Sadly, little has changed in the relationship between van den Bergh and Huybrechts since then; the two still don't talk to each other.

"I'm a professional dart player and I'm going to be as professional as I need to be. It's only a few days, and I just have to put personal issues aside and play darts," Van den Bergh says on the issue. "I've got no interest in having a sit down with him. It's just going to be he does his thing, I do mine, then on that stage we play for Belgium."

Van den Bergh won the UK Open in early April and also recently won a Players Championship. "My form is in a good place, my head is in a good place, and I just want to keep this going!" Van den Bergh concludes.
