A lot has been reported about the abuse that has been suffered by darts players during the Coronavirus pandemic especially with online darts highlighting this.

For Jamie Lewis and Wayne Mardle in particular, they have decided to leave social media due to abusive messages sent to them as of late.

Lewis has just played in the MODUS Online Live League and said that he has constantly received messages saying he was throwing matches and said that as a result, he was leaving social media for his own mental health.

While for Mardle, it is due to 'detestation and loathing' which he called unacceptable and that he will not be using Twitter for a while personally but only for business.

I don’t have social media accounts, Facebook or Twitter etc not sure why Jamie takes so much heat, he is a real nice guy. I can understand the heat mardle takes as I don’t know anyone that has anything good to say about him and he is not very popular, so many people I know would love Chris Mason to replace Mardle on SKY. The bottom line is surely people on social media can except good and bad comments but also comments can be traced back to an individual.

we need to be able to track these people down electronically and penalise them. it's abuse and its a crime

I hope there are some keyboard warriors with their heads held low today, but there probably aren't. scumbags. chin up Jamie, you're stronger than they are!
