A lot has been reported about the abuse that has been suffered by darts players during the Coronavirus pandemic especially with online darts highlighting this.
For Jamie Lewis and Wayne Mardle in particular, they have decided to leave social media due to abusive messages sent to them as of late.
Lewis has just played in the MODUS Online Live League and said that he has constantly received messages saying he was throwing matches and said that as a result, he was leaving social media for his own mental health.
While for Mardle, it is due to 'detestation and loathing' which he called unacceptable and that he will not be using Twitter for a while personally but only for business.

The detestation and loathing aimed at me and others on social media is totally unacceptable. For the foreseeable I’m removing myself from all social media forums on a personal front. I’ll be vocal for promotions and business only. The imbeciles have won, for now.
