The PDC announced that betting firm Paddy Power will hand out 60,000 pounds each time to the player who manages to throw a nine dart finish at the World Darts Championship. However, there was a catch, as Luke Littler turned out to be too young to qualify for this bonus.
Because of English law, the bonus may not be paid to minors. And since Littler does not turn 18 until the end of January, "The Nuke" would not be eligible for the title sponsor's performance bonus at the PDC World Darts Championship
Littler is the player who has thrown the most nine darters this season. Already four times the English prodigy has produced a perfect leg during a PDC tournament.
So something had to be invented for that, and the PDC has arranged for another sponsor to pay Littler a possible bonus. PDC sponsor Village Hotels has agreed that it will transfer 60,000 pounds to Littler for every nine-darter he throws at Alexandra Palace during the upcoming edition of the World Championship.
Tournament sponsor Paddy Power is also going to transfer £60,000 for each nine darter to Prostate Cancer UK, a foundation that raises money to raise awareness of prostate cancer research.
