Luke Littler has come through a real thriller with
Dimitri Van den Bergh, surviving two missed matchdarts from the Belgian to reach the final of the 2024
Australian Darts Masters.
The level was high in the first semifinal. Littler posted an average of 104.92 with a finishing percentage of 38.9 percent. Van den Bergh had an average of 102.22 per turn and a finishing percentage of 35.3 percent.
Van den Bergh immediately took the lead with a 14-darter, but then could not break Littler despite two break chances. Littler made it 1-1 with an 86 finish. Van den Bergh then threw a 13-darter, before Littler managed to throw out 105. Littler got his first break chances in the fifth leg, but missed two darts on double 12. Van den Bergh kept the initiative with double 18, but then saw Littler equalize with a 16-darter. A 14-darter by Van den Bergh and a 13-darter by Littler made it 4-4.
In the ninth leg, there were again break chances for Littler. However, he failed to strike with his three chances to break, after which Van den Bergh managed to make it 5-4 via double 2. Littler then levelled the score with a fine 146 finish;
Then in the 11th leg of the match came the first break of the match. Littler threw a 12-darter and then threw for the match. However, 'The Nuke' missed a matchdart on tops and was not out in five visits. Van den Bergh was with a 13-darter and forced a final leg. In the last leg, Littler was again the first to get a matchdart, but he missed the double 12 from 144. Van den Bergh then left his two matchdarts unused, before Littler struck with his fourth matchdart.
