Lukeman buzzing after dream debut win over Wade at World Grand Prix: "I done the job, I bashed him"

Martin Lukeman was sent all the way to a decider against James Wade but held his nerve to seal a debut win at the World Grand Prix after losing at the World Matchplay to 'The Machine'.

Speaking afterwards, Lukeman is keeping himself grounded despite being delighted with the win.

"I'm buzzing but it's one round, it's nothing. I know I can go further in these competitions and I want to," said Lukeman post match.

It was his second appearance on a major stage this season with the World Matchplay also being a debut but he admits he's taken more from playing European Tour as a baseline to take forward.

"I didn't take much from the World Matchplay to be fair but the European Tour has done me the world of good. It's kicking me on now, these stages different color, different sponsor it doesn't matter - it's a stage."

He also spoke about his past life as a builder and how now after giving up his job, he has the confidence to reach the very top.

"James missed a few doubles or whatever, the old guy. I done the job, I bashed him. Last year I had £9,000, I was fighting for my Tour Card. I've put the work in, I don't want to go back to building sites. I don't want to be getting up at 5am, I want to be doing this."

"I can win something I know I can, when you win one, it goes to two, three and your confidence keeps going on. I've beaten World Class players this year, top ten I've probably had five of them. I know I can do it."
