From 28 - 30 April the sixth PDC
European Tour tournament will be played in the Netherlands. The Dutch Darts Championship will take place in Leeuwarden.
In two of the previous PDC European Tour events, the International Darts Open and the German Darts Grand Prix,
Liam Maendl-Lawrance took part. The 18 year old from Munich attracted attention by his strong performances as he forced Danny Noppert in both tournaments till the decider where the German lost narrowly.
But due to his slow playing style, Maendl-Lawrance became a talking point in the media and among opponents.
But working on this point does not cross the German's mind. "That's my style of play, my technique," he explains in an interview with dartsnews.de.
Considering that Maendl-Lawrance only started playing darts in December 2019, it is remarkable that he has been able to achieve such a feat within this short period of time. "A bit of talent but a lot of training," the Bavarian estimates the reason for this achievement.
"I mostly train in the Harlekin (the darts bistro where he also works) with my coach Seidl Peter technique, score and finish."
On DAZN Maendl-Lawrance had already mentioned that he enjoyed talking and relaxing with the "Big Guns" in the backstage area. Asked about this he replied: "Everyone was very nice to me. The PDC is like a big family."
"Darts is fun, it's always fun!" the 18-year-old concluded.
