Marcus Kirchmann and
Nico Kurz are the last two players to secure a starting spot for the
German Darts Championship. They managed to get through the Host Nation Qualifier on Thursday.
Each Euro Tour tournament involves a qualifying tournament in which two starting spots are ready for players from the country where the Euro Tour tournament is being played.
Kirchmann managed to qualify for a Euro Tour tournament for the first time in his career. He defeated David Schlichting (5-1) and Kai Gotthardt (5-0), among others, to qualify for the event in Hildesheim. Kirchmann will play Steve Lennon in the first round, and if he wins, will meet Michael van Gerwen in the second round.
Kurz is the other qualifier. The German was too strong for the likes of Michael Hurtz (5-1), Steffan Siepmann (5-2) and Dominik Gruellich (5-1) and will play his seventh Euro Tour tournament. Dylan Slevin will be Kurz's first opponent at the German Darts Championship. Should he manage to win against the Irishman, he will face Jonny Clayton in the last 32.
