Fallon Sherrock caused a sensation at the Grand Slam of Darts on Tuesday night by reaching the last sixteen at the expense of Gabriel Clemens.
The 27-year-old from Milton Keynes did this by throwing a roof-raising 170 finish in the eighth leg, which gave her the required 5-3 victory over the German. Sherrock is the first woman ever to qualify for the knockout stage at the Grand Slam of Darts, after previously being the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Darts Championship.
The British press paid a lot of attention to Sherrock's historic performance. In addition, the video of the PDC on Twitter showing her 170 finish was viewed more than half a million times.
According to Wayne Mardle, the PDC should take advantage of Sherrock's popularity. The darts analyst from Sky Sports has an idea how the PDC should do that.
''I don’t mind being (more) unpopular amongst the players. For the benefit of darts as a sport the PDC have to put Fallon Sherrock in the 2022 Premier League. She is, as we stand the most marketable asset within the sport. PDC, over to you'', he said on Twitter.
