With a new edition of his book Slinging Arrows out next week,
Wayne Mardle had an idea if there ever is a further reboot of the popular 90's gameshow, Bullseye.
Hosted by Jim Bowen, it saw contestants aim to win prizes in varying quality from a set of pans to a speedboat.
“Back in the 90s I would have paid money to be on there, but I was not prepared to go on that show when it was a farce with Spikey," said Mardle.
“In my opinion, they should have let the show die, and if any execs are reading this and wondering about another reboot I say this: Bullseye should stay off air until technology and budgets allow a convincing Jim Bowen hologram to take the show back under his virtual wing.”
He further fumed at Spikey not holding back on his opinion surrounding the host for the last reboot.
“I’m no TV critic and the closest thing I have to a media studies degree is a subscription to TV Times, but my assessment of the Bullseye reboot is that it was a load of old s***e.
“The genius of Jim Bowen is that he displayed an almost superhuman degree of empathy and warmth with everyone on Bullseye, from darts pros who’d missed a key shot to contestants who were down on their luck.”
