Michael van Gerwen will not compete in the first two Players Championship tournaments of the season next week, scheduled for Feb. 12 and 13 in Wigan.
After Van Gerwen won the second weekly Premier League Darts title in Berlin on Thursday night, the 34-year-old Dutchman confirmed to Viaplay that he will miss the start of the new Pro Tour season.

The three-time world champion will travel to Disneyland Paris on Friday with his family for a short vacation. It will not be Van Gerwen's first visit to the amusement park in the Parisian capital.
In September 2022, Van Gerwen, along with his wife Daphne and children Zoë and Mike, had also traveled to Disneyland Paris. Four years earlier in 2018, Van Gerwen and his wife and daughter visited Disneyland in the Chinese city of Shanghai.
