"Might say in five years I'm not bothered": Luke Littler's darting life span could be fleeting believes Keith Deller

Luke Littler's ascent to superstardom in both a darting sense and also becoming a household name could see his time in the sport as brief believes former World Champion, Keith Deller.

Deller spoke at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship and said that he might earn enough that he decides to simply quit the sport in five years time and won't be around long enough to be the best.

He has already earned over £400,000 this year and Deller sees around £15m in earnings before he decides to quit potentially. He would only be 22 at this point though but for darts, it is unparalleled territory.

No player aside from maybe Fallon Sherrock has had the impact in such a short period in clutching the main stream and Littler now gets eyes on the sport that weren't there before is ascent to the World final.

“Luke’s a brilliant player. But I don’t think he will be around long enough to be the best. He’s going to earn so much money that he might say in five years' time I’ve got £15million and I’m not that bothered," said Deller to Champions UK.

Deller continued that Littler needs to surround himself with good people and not those only there for his money and stardom. He has done a good job of that thus far with his family and friend circle remaining mainly the same: “My only concern for him is that he has got to make sure he has good people around him. When you start with millions in the bank you can almost have too much money.

“So I hope he gets looked after. My advice would to Luke would be to just‘ be sensible’. If he does, and he’s well looked after, he will have a fantastic life and a life that most people can only dream of.”
