Multiple World Championship participant forced to flee hotel room citing infestation of bedbugs

James Richardson had little fun participating in the MODUS Super Series last week. His stay at the nearby hotel was one to quickly forget.

With an itchy body, 'Ruthless' returned home. Indeed, his hotel bed turned out to be full of bedbugs. These are small insects that usually live in hotel room beds.

“Any players playing in the Modus Super Series and are staying round the corner please be careful. I’m in room 324 and have experienced either bed bug or flea bites to my chest has bites but my ankles and feet have loads," Richardson explained on his own Facebook page.

“I could constantly scratch them. I have complained to reception they have changed my bed but haven't hoovered the carpet. I’m out of here in the morning thank God and going home won’t be staying here again.”

Richardson is best known for his surprise victory over Raymond van Barneveld at the 2012 World Darts Championship. He also competed in the 2013, 2018 and 2020 editions. In 2022, Richardson competed in the WDF World Championship.
